The Oppo R5 has been knocked off its perch as the slimmest smartphone in the world, no thanks to the introduction of the Vivo X5 Max, but taking into consideration how the Vivo X5 Max will be made available to those living in China only at the moment – or perhaps indefinitely, there is a sub-title that the Oppo R5 can pick up, which would be the most widely available slimmest smartphone in the world. However, this is more than just a pretty handset, as you can tell from the YouTube video above.

The thin profile might make it extremely endearing to those who want something stylish, practical and yet pretty robust, since the metal frame and back makes up a sturdy chassis. Oppo touts the robustness of the Oppo R5 with a commercial that points to the handset having to undergo a slew of stress tests, ranging from having a car actually drive over the Oppo R5, not to mention receiving a whole lot of abuse – and yet emerging from the various ordeals without picking up any major damage. Perhaps this is how Apple should have built their latest iPhone 6 so as not to have it bend in one’s pocket? Are you stoked with the Oppo R5?
