It was announced during the E3 2014 conference that following the reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise in 2013, Lara Croft will be making her way to the Xbox One in 2015. The new title is called Rise of the Tomb Raider and will arrive in the fall of 2015. Microsoft’s head of global product marketing, Aaron Greenberg, has confirmed through Twitter that Microsoft will publish Rise of the Tomb Raider when it is released next year.

Even though Rise of the Tomb Raider will arrive on Xbox One first, it won’t really be an Xbox exclusive per se. This game is actually exclusive Xbox One for a limited time so the possibility of it launching on other platforms, including PlayStation, isn’t off the table at all.

Phil Spencer, the Xbox chief at Microsoft, reiterated this when he was asked about exclusivity in an interview. “Yes, the deal has a duration,” he said, “I didn’t buy it. I don’t own the franchise.”

Greenberg was asked about the publication over Twitter, to which he responded, “Yes we are publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider.”

So far a release date for this title hasn’t been confirmed, this information will probably be made public a few months before the release is due. Given that the title is destined for fall 2015, there’s quite a bit of waiting involved before we can see what the game holds in store for us.
