delfi-robotMore often than not, a car is not a purchase that you would make in a jiffy – and neither do you change it at your whim and fancy, unless you are extremely well to do. Having said that, folks tend to keep their care for 10 years or so before exploring the possibility of changing it due to rising maintenance costs, and with that, modern day cars tend to come with a whole lot of bells, whistles, and buttons – as opposed to their more ancient predecessors. These buttons will need to be able to stand the test of time – or at least until you change cars, and Delphi is a company that automakers all over the world look to in order to supply such buttons.

Of course, checking out these buttons to see action in vehicles, ensuring that they will remain in tip top condition and ready to see action always can be quite a meticulous affair, so why not enlist the help of a robot to get the job done? After all, robots never tire out, and they are consistent when they need to check or inspect a certain item within reasonable parameters.

Delphi’s facility in China has a robot whose sole purpose of existence is to hit a button repeatedly – and this particular test will run anywhere from 10,000 to 50,000 cycles – definitely not a job that a human would find fulfilling. Just goes to show us yet again how important robots are in the manufacturing process these days.
