saga-2015-ps-vita

Folks in North America might remember a title called Final Fantasy Legend which was introduced as the first Game Boy role-playing game. Now the SaGa series is set to make a comeback and that too on Sony’s portable console, the PlayStation Vita. Square Enix confirmed today that SaGa 2015 will be released on the PS Vita.

The announcement was made by Akitoshi Kawazu, the creator of this series, during a livestream by Square Enix to celebrate the 25th anniversary of this series. Concept art created by Tomomi Kobayashi, the series illustrator, was shown off during the livestream.

Unfortunately that’s all that was shared about this title. No details were made public during the livestream. So at this point in time there’s really not much to know about the next installment in this series, we’ll have to wait for that information.

Those who owned a PlayStation 2 will remember that back in 2002 Unlimited Saga was released which had a rather different reel-based battle system that made things quite difficult. That was the last proper game that came out for this science fiction series.

Given that 2014 is almost over, it is safe to say we’ll only get to hear more about SaGa 2015 for PlayStation Vita in the coming year. We’ll keep our ears to the ground.
