gribbotFor those who are into fitness like building muscle, trying to shave off a few pounds, and those who are on diets, chicken breast is one of the highly recommended foods that they should eat. This is because the meat is lean unlike other parts of the chicken, like the thigh or drumstick where it is a bit more fatty.

That being said, it seems that scientists over in Norway have developed a robot which is apparently capable of pulling the chicken breast from the bone. For those who are unfamiliar with the process, doing it by hand can be difficult and will leave a lot of meat wasted, but with the machine, wastage won’t be an issue.

Dubbed the “Gribbot”, this is a robot put together by the SINTEF search group as part of the Norwegian CYCLE project. The robot will use a Kinect camera for 3D vision as well as flexible fingers on a hand. The robot will also rely on an algorithm that will help guide the hand’s movements based on what the camera can see.

However it should be noted that this isn’t the first robot of its kind. A team over at Georgia Tech have similarly developed a robot that can debone an entire chicken which makes the chicken breast ripping Gribbot seem less superior, but still an impressive feat nonetheless.
