Ah, there is nothing quite like the long arm of the law that puts things into perspective. We have all heard about how there were North Korean footprints found in the recent Sony Pictures hack, where several high profile movies that have yet to hit the Blu-ray or even theaters were released to the public to make sure that the world knows, this is serious business. Having said that, Sony Pictures’ upcoming holiday release “Annie” has already made its way to several file sharing websites, but those have been removed after said sites were served with cease-and-desist demands from the studio.
Sony Pictures had already sent out letters to the websites that carried links to the film, and in the wake of this particular attack, Sony Pictures had also offered employees identity and credit-theft protection insurance.
“Annie” was in line for a December 19th release as one of the company’s major holiday pictures and as far as we know, Sony’s computer systems are still in the recovery process, and the movie studio intends to continue working hard so that it can remove the rest of its leaked movies from the various file-sharing sites that are in operation at the moment. Better late than never, right?
