Even though Sprint is the third largest mobile carrier in the country things haven’t really been good. Verizon and AT&T continue to extend their lead while T-Mobile is snapping at Sprint’s heels. The carrier is under new leadership and is now taking big steps to spur growth, the new “Cut Your Bill in Half” promotion is one such step. This promotion is aimed at subscribers who would like to switch over from their current carrier over to Sprint.

This is a limited time promotion which starts from Friday. Potential switchers from Verizon and AT&T can bring their bills to any Sprint store, or upload them to the carrier’s website, and see if the savings justify a switch. Sprint promises to cut the customers’ existing rate plans in half, providing them with unlimited calls and texts as well as a data bucket which “closely matches” the data allowance on their existing plan.

There are some caveats though. Those who are switching over will have to purchase a new phone on Sprint Easy Pay, or buy it outright. The existing device from AT&T or Verizon has to be traded in, this is absolutely required, and those who don’t turn in their phones within 30 days will have to pay a $200 “non-return phone charge.” Customers bringing over a family plan will have to return phones for all lines.

Subscribers who plan to upgrade their data tier on Sprint down the line will then have to go with the normal rate that everybody pays, they will have to let go of the Half Price plans so its better to make sure that what Sprint offers you is enough to cover your data usage. Once the rate is accepted its locked in.

Don’t worry about having to pay a huge sum to get out of your existing contract with Verizon or AT&T. Sprint is going to pay up to $350 to cover early termination fees on your carrier.
