lumia 635

Sprint is the third largest mobile carrier in the country and it backs two prepaid carriers, Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile. They will now start selling the Lumia 635 smartphone from Microsoft. The Windows Phone 8.1-powered smartphone will be available for $100 off contract, so even though it is a low-end offering, it’s a good option for customers who want a smartphone experience without having to pay a high price or sign a conventional service contract.

The Lumia 635 will be available from Boost and Virgin online stores starting December 23rd. Next month retail partners as well as Sprint, Boost and Virgin’s own retail stores will have the Lumia 635 in stock.

The Lumia 635 in white will be available from both Sprint and Virgin whereas the cyan version will only be available from Boost Mobile. As previously mentioned, the $100 price is that of the off contract version, so customers won’t be required to sign a contract with the carrier.

This is a win for Microsoft as well, it acquired Nokia’s devices and services division, and now its low-end Windows Phone 8.1 powered smartphone is available from all of the four major U.S. carriers, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile to be precise. This allows the company to reach out to a greater number of potential customers, which is essential to bring about growth for its platform.
