power_penWhile we use computers to type up a lot of things these days, the need for a pen is still there to help fill forms, sign documents, and so on. Heck, there are probably still plenty of users out there who feel more comfortable writing with an actual pen. That being said, wouldn’t it be cool if your pen was more than a pen? Like an external battery for your smartphone?

Well if you think that’s an awesome and not to mention an extremely convenient idea, then the Power Pen might be of interest to you. As its name suggests, the Power Pen is both a pen and a battery at the same time. This means that when not in use as a battery, you can go ahead and sue the Power Pen like any regular pen.

However should your phone be dying and you need a quick charge to fire off a few emails, messages, or calls, then plug it into smartphone and you’re good to go! The connector to your smartphone is found hidden in the pen which needs to be unscrewed to be accessed. The connector will be able to connect to either Lightning devices or micro USB, so iOS and Android users are covered.

However we should note that its internal battery is set at 700mAh which is hardly impressive, but like we said if you need some last minute battery and don’t want to both with battery packs or cases, then the Power Pen could be the answer to your problems. Priced at around $40, the Power Pen is available for purchase via Firebox.
