As we enter into the last weeks of December its time to look back at the year. Many services are providing a glimpse of how the year went by and Google, the most widely used search engine in the world, is joining the list. The company has revealed a list of top Google searches of 2014 which shows what people around the world searched the most for throughout this entire year.
Previously Google used to call this list the Zeitgeist but now it has changed the moniker a bit, it’s now calling the list “Year in Search.” It brings together both “most-searched” and “trending” lists. The latter consists of searches which saw the highest spikes in traffic during a sustained period in 2014 as compared with 2013. Most-searched list lists searches based on the number of volumes through the entire year.
In Global Trending Searches Robin Williams took first place, whose death in August was one of the biggest events in 2014, with Ebola and the World Cup obtaining third and second place respectively. As far as technology is concerned, the highly-addictive game Flappy Bird made to sixth place on the list.
The top ten consumer electronics searches include iPhone 6, Galaxy S5 and Nexus 6 took first, second and third place respectively. The list is completed by Moto G, Galaxy Note 4, LG G3, Xbox One, Apple Watch, Nokia X and the iPad Air.
