With the multitude of games being available these days, we’re not sure how many of you guys remember the Heroes of Might and Magic series of turn-based games from back in the day, although to be fair the latest installment was released back in 2011. That being said, if you loved the franchise and wondered if it might make a good fit for mobile, you’re in luck.

Ubisoft has recently announced that they will be bringing Heroes of Might and Magic 3 onto iOS and Android devices come 29th of January 2015. This will not be a straight port from the original version, but rather a HD version where the graphics from the original game will be updated in order to look and play better.

Given that the original game was released back in 1999, we guess a graphical update to a 15 year old game is to be expected. For those who are unfamiliar with the series, it’s basically a turn-based game where gamers control several heroes, with each hero controlling a small army of their own.

The players will then traverse the map, defeating enemies, picking up treasure, capturing castles, all the while building up bigger and better armies until they win the game. For those who have played the game, this will no doubt bring up some fond memories, and we have to admit we are curious as to how it might translate onto mobile devices. In the meantime you can check out the HD-fying process of one of the game’s units in the video above.
