utiliteCompuLab has decided to update their Utilite range of small and low-power desktop computers, where the spanking new Utilite2 is touted to be 30% smaller in size compared to its predecessor in the previous year. However, despite the apparent shrinkage in form factor, CompuLab claims that this brand new model would be able to offer up to double the performance, and this is made possible thanks to a more powerful processor.

The Utilite2 will be able to run not only on Ubuntu, but also on the Android operating system if you so desire. It will run in an extremely quiet manner, thanks to its fanless aluminum case, while the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor ought to be able to provide a fair amount of performance right out of the box.

Hardware specifications for the Utilite2 include 2GB RAM, 4GB of internal memory, up to 128GB of expandable storage courtesy of a microSDXC memory card slot, mSATA SSD support for up to 512GB of storage space, all of it crammed into a chassis that measures 3.4″ x 2.3″ x 1.1″. Connectivity options include Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, 4 USB 2.0 ports, a micro USB OTG port. What use do you have for a computer that is so small in stature?
