If you haven’t already received it, soon enough an over-the-air update will land on your Verizon LG G3. Before you get your hopes up let me make it clear that Big Red hasn’t pushed out Android 5.0 Lollipop for LG’s flagship, even though it has received this update in certain markets. No, its merely an incremental update, which adds Advanced Calling 1.0 support to the LG G3 on Verizon Wireless.
Advanced Calling 1.0 brings enhanced voice calling features to the smartphone which include HD voice, video calling as well as 6-way conference calls. Video calls can be made straight through the dialer so it eliminates the need to use third party services for this purpose.
There is one caveat though. At this point in time Advanced Calling features are only compatible with another Verizon device that supports Advanced Calling 1.0. So the person on the other hand has to have a supported device on Verizon in order for you to be able to take advantage of these new features.
It won’t work if the other person is on an unsupported device or on another carrier. Supported devices on Verizon include LG G2, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Galaxy S5, Droid MAXX or the Droid Mini.
This update also refreshed certain native apps on the handset like My Verizon Mobile and Softcard mobile, a payments service. LG’s native apps like Camera, LGLTECall, and LGBackUp have also been updated in software version VS98512B.
