xiaomi-laptop

Yesterday a purported picture of Xiaomi’s first laptop was widely circulated across the internet, picked up by many online news outlets. Like other Xiaomi products this laptop also appeared to have been inspired from an Apple product, the MacBook Air to be precise, but the laptop we saw in the picture looked more like a blatant rip-off that one could expect from Xiaomi. The Chinese company has confirmed that the laptop in this photo doesn’t belong to it.

That’s not to say that Xiaomi isn’t working on laptops at all, a spokesman for the company has merely confirmed that the MacBook Air clone has nothing to do with Xiaomi. A company executive recently said that a new flagship device is going to be unveiled soon, many expect that device to be the company’s first laptop.

The common perception is that many Xiaomi products copy Apple design which is just one of the reasons why people were quick to believe that a MacBook Air rip-off could actually be the work of this company, which is greatly expanding its market share across Asia and is already one of the top vendors in China.

Xiaomi has absolutely little or no presence at all in major Western markets but it is believed that the company has plans to reach out to this part of the world when its expansion plans are set in motion, for now its pretty much limited to Asia.
