youtube-new-logoJust when you thought that YouTube does offer just about everything that you could ever want in terms of video sharing, along comes this bit of information from the grapevine that has yet to be 100% verified – the possibility of YouTube allowing you to create animated GIFs from the video that you have just viewed. Normally, whenever one clicks on the “Share” button that is located right under any YouTube video, the user will be presented with three rather simple options: Share (for a URL), Embed (for HTML code) and Email. It seems that animated GIF is about to be added to the list of tricks that it is capable of, although there has been no official announcement of it just yet.

Word has it that YouTube has begun to test this out on select channels, where you are able to pick any video from Good Mythical Morning or The Idea Channel to be given the opportunity to try your hand at creating a captioned, six-second GIF. Basically, YouTube will begin the GIF at the point of the video that was playing as “Share” was selected, and you can adjust it accordingly based on the visual slider or the timestamp. Heck, with animated GIF support arriving on Twitter, why not YouTube?
