mac miniBack in October 2014, Apple finally released an updated version of their Mac mini computer. However apart from the slight upgrades, there was one thing missing and that was customers weren’t able to select a 2TB storage option. A 1TB storage option was the highest it could go, which meant that customers would have to resort to external HDDs or flash drives to store their files if they went over the limit.

Now the good news is that it seems that Apple has listened to their customers because according to reports, the 2TB Mac mini model has made its way back to the Apple Store. This is good news for those who plan to use the Mac mini computers as servers, although to be fair 1TB could do the trick as well, albeit with less storage space.

However it should be noted that the 2TB option is only limited to the higher-end $999 configuration. The 2TB drive also no longer relies on a conventional hard drive, but will now use Apple’s Fusion Drive technology instead which we guess is good news. This basically means that the drive will combine both a 256GB SSD with conventional storage, so you kind of get the best of both worlds.

The Mac mini is currently available for purchase via the Apple Online Store and if you wanted to bump it to a 2TB Fusion Drive option, you’d have to add an extra $100, bringing the total price to $1,099 assuming you don’t change anything else.
