ipad-pro-stylus

Anyone who has ever read up on Steve Jobs would know that the Apple co-founder didn’t like the stylus at all. When the original iPhone came out back in 2007 it didn’t have a stylus even though many touchscreen handsets at the time came with one. The iPhone and the iPad have never had a stylus but that might change soon if famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is to be believed.

KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo says in a report today that based on his own research and the multiple stylus-related patents filed by Apple he believes that the company is going to launch a stylus in the second quarter of 2015 to go with its much rumored iPad Pro.

For those who don’t know the iPad Pro is a moniker given to a rumored 12.9-inch iPad that Apple is said to be working on. At no point has the company ever confirmed or denied that such a product is in the pipeline, its all pure speculation at this point in time.

The analyst believes that Apple is going to take this step to “improve the user experience of the 12.9-inch iPad.” It merits mentioning here that Kuo doesn’t mention any independent sources that confirmed the iPad Pro will have a stylus, he just points towards the company’s numerous patents.

Since initially most users won’t need a stylus Kuo says that Apple will launch it later as an optional accessory so it won’t come with the iPad Pro. The analyst also thinks that initially Apple’s stylus won’t have many features but over time the company will add bells and whistles like accelerometer and a built-in gyroscope, even 3D handwriting at one point.

Ming-Chi Kuo does have a strong track record when it comes to Apple but even analysts can be way off the mark, so take this with a grain of salt for now.
