Apple’s new payment service aptly called Apple Pay launched a couple of months back. It didn’t take long for the service to be taken up by millions of people, businesses and customers alike, in the U.S. There’s little presence outside the country, even though workarounds exist to use Apple Pay outside the U.S., and that’s mainly because Apple hasn’t expanded this service internationally as yet. That might change soon.

According to 9to5mac’s “sources close to the situation” Apple is going to expand Apple Pay internationally starting March 2015. “At least” the Canadian launch should be done and dusted by early 2015 because apparently the company and its launch partners in Canada are planning advertising and promotional material for March.

Even though Apple is targeting this timeframe for a launch its possible that delays might take place if talks with partners in Canada hit a roadblock. There have already been reports about an expansion into the UK by mid-2015, and Apple has posted job listings seeking talent that would help introduce this service in places like the Middle East, Europe and Asia.

The start of international expansion in March would make sense if reports about the Apple Watch coming out in the same month are true. Apple’s smartwatch will allow people to make payments through Apple Pay so it would make sense for the company to go ahead with both announcements together.
