evernoteEvernote is great for taking notes, recording your receipts, and so on because unlike other note taking apps, Evernote will sync across the devices that it has been installed on, even computers. This means that if you wrote something on your phone, you could log into your computer and begin editing it from there straightaway.

Now the bad news here is that if you’re still using Evernote on an older BlackBerry device, like a BlackBerry 7 handset or maybe the somewhat ancient BlackBerry Playbook tablet, you will be disappointed to learn that come 7th of February, Evernote will cease its support for your devices. According to Evernote, “February 7th, we’ll be retiring Evernote Hello, Evernote Peek, Evernote for BlackBerry 7, and Evernote for BlackBerry PlayBook.”

This does not mean that you will no longer be able to use the app, but rather if you were hoping for updates and new features, you’d be out of luck as the version of Evernote you’re using is pretty much the version you’re stuck with. Of course this can be resolved by getting a newer device, but if that is out of the question, you will still be able to retrieve your notes by logging into Evernote Web.

Alternatively you could also try and find other note taking apps that offer similar features to Evernote, but given that BlackBerry 10 is the new direction the Canadian company is heading in, perhaps it’s time to consider making the upgrade.
