The last couple of years haven’t been too good for HTC’s balance sheets. The company has been in a financial slump and it has tried its best to come out of it. HTC has had a strong ending to 2014 which led it to post the first year-over-year revenue gain after a few years. The last time such a gain was posted was back in 2011 so this will certainly be a welcome change.

HTC announced today that during the fourth quarter of 2015 its revenue topped NT$47.9 billion which is roughly equal to $1.5 billion. During the same time last year HTC posted a revenue of $42.9 billion so this is a substantial increase. HTC has said that during its fourth quarter the company profit touched NT$470 million.

Analysts believe that the strong performance, particularly in the fourth quarter, is what has led HTC to achieve this goal. Greater hardware sales no doubt contributed to it. The Nexus 9, which was built in collaboration with Google, also played an important part in getting hardware sales to rise.

Even though the company’s fourth quarter was good the full-year revenue declined when compared to 2013 so that’s one area that HTC still has some work left to do. In 2015 HTC is expected to launch its new flagship device and that might help increase sales, but it will have to be creative to ensure that full-year revenues do not continue to keep declining.
