lumoidI know of companies that make a living by renting out stuff – and we are familiar with the rental of cars, movies, and even dresses. But what about the fast changing world of gadgets? It seems that there is at least one company out there that dares to tread in this market niche – and that would be Lumoid. Lumoid has introduced a brand new service that will cater to those who are looking for wearable technology, but not too certain on whether they are worth the investment.

With Lumoid’s new service, it can rent out up to five fitness trackers of your choice in order for you to try them out for a week. The entire cost of such an “experiment”? We are looking at just $20 for an entire week – clearly living out the “try before you buy” concept to the fullest. This new service from Lumoid will ship the selected devices to you, and the models available to pick from include Jawbone UP24, Garmin Vivosmart, Fitbit One, Fitbit Flex, Fitbit Charge, and Misfit Shine.

Of course, there are also other more “traditional” wearables that can be rented – including smartwatches such as Pebble, and other health monitoring devices like the Fitbit Aria Smart Scale and Withings wireless blood pressure monitor.
