oxygen osThe OnePlus One was launched with CyanogenMod installed it which made many an Android user happy, however it was later rumored and confirmed that OnePlus would be making a ROM of their own, which they have and is currently in alpha stage at the moment. Things appear to be progressing nicely because the company has since officially announced the name of their ROM – OxygenOS.

This is in line with the teaser OnePlus released the other day where they posted an image of the periodic table. At that time it was wrongly assumed that they would be releasing a new backplate for the OnePlus One, but as it turns out the teaser was for their ROM all along. According to the company, “Oxygen is all around us. It’s part of us and everything we do. It creates the water that carves out valleys and moves mountains. By itself, it’s simple and pure—a fundamental building block. But, as a part of something greater, it can do amazing things. Just like us.”

In the meantime we’re not sure what the company has planned for the ROM. Will it be exclusive to the OnePlus series of handsets or does the company have plans to make it widely available to Android users, kind of like what Cyanogen Inc. did for the Android community back in the day?

Either way OnePlus is expected to share more details about their ROM come 12th of February, so do check back with us then for the details. So, who else is excited to see what OnePlus has up their sleeves?
