We have recently heard many rumors about Samsung working on a new smartwatch that has a round design, apparently this device has the codename “Orbis.” Not much is known about the Orbis at this time but as per several reports the smartwatch is going to have a rotating bezel ring and a digital crown. What does that rotating ring do? We get some insights through a new report.

According to Sammobile the ring will be used for homescreen management. Users will be able to scroll through the recent apps menu one by one using the ring. Rotating it faster will show three apps simultaneously. To close this menu users will have to press the crown.

Control over incoming phone call is also expected to be offered by this ring. Rotating it to the right will reject the phone call while rotating it to the left will not only reject the call but send a preset message to the caller. To end calls currently in progress users will push the crown once.

The ring will also offer control over the music player it seems. Rotating it will allow users to skip or back a track. It may also be used to jump through different clocks by simply rotating, dismissing the alarm through a similar action and even for checking up on current weather, hourly and weekly forecast all with simple rotations.

The scribe trusts information that its source has provided but it goes without saying that in the absence of an official confirmation from Samsung one must take this with a grain of salt. Samsung hasn’t said as yet if and when it will launch a round smartwatch.
