samsung-galaxy-j1

A few months back it was reported that Samsung is going to simply its naming convention by using a single letter accompanied by a single number for new smartphones. This became event when the Galaxy A series of smartphones was launched. Recently the new Galaxy E smartphones also stuck with this naming convention. Images of an upcoming Samsung smartphone have been leaked online and they too show that the company is sticking with this single-letter naming convention for its smartphones.

The images leaked by Sammobile show that Samsung will soon announce the Galaxy J series. First smartphone in this series will be Galaxy J1 (SM-J100). Accompanying specifications show that it will be a mid-range device with software features like the Ultra Power Saving Mode.

Powered by a 1.2GHz Marvell PXA1908 64-bit quadcore processor and 1GB RAM, the Galaxy J1 has a 4.3-inch WVGA display, 4GB onboard storage, 5 megapixel rear and 2 megapixel front camera as well as a 1,850mAh battery.

The markets in which Samsung is going to release the Galaxy J1 have not yet been confirmed. For all we know it could be limited to a few emerging markets, or it may even make its way to North America. Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything about this device as yet, but with the expected January 14th launch date not too far, we’re really don’t have to wait that much to find out for sure.
