samsung logo 5Samsung’s approach to the design of the Galaxy S series hasn’t exactly been the most exciting. The company has largely relied on materials such as plastic in the past and even textured backs, but some have complained that they felt cheap versus other phones by Apple, HTC, and Sony, all of whom have used more “luxurious” materials in their design.

This is set to change with the upcoming Galaxy S6 where the rumors are suggesting we could expect something completely different. Previously we had seen alleged photos which depicts a metal frame that could be part of the phone, and now a new report from Korea (via SamMobile) has confirmed this. The report also suggests that we can expect glass to be used in the design as well.

The report claims that the design of the upcoming Galaxy S6 might share some design features from Apple and Sony, where glass will be used in the front and back of the handset while sporting a metal trim around the edge of the phone. Assuming this is true, it will be a pretty big departure in design from the previous Galaxy S handsets.

In any case it certainly sounds rather interesting and it is a phone that we are looking forward to. No word on when Samsung will be making the handset official, but with MWC 2015 kicking off in March, there is a good chance we might learn more about the handset then, but for now do take it with a grain of salt.
