nex-7For the past few years, we have been hearing rumors that Sony is thinking about launching a successor to the NEX-7 mirrorless camera which was launched in 2011, and if the rumors are right, 2015 could very well be the year that we see the rumored camera. Now thanks to new information obtained by Sony Alpha Rumors, some additional details about the camera has surfaced.

According to Sony Alpha Rumors, they have recently heard a rumor that the Sony A7000 could very well come with an on-sensor stabilization feature. It will feature the same 5-axis stabilization that is used by the Sony A7 II, and while their source did not specifically mention the A7000, they did state that it is a camera that sits above the Sony A6000, so the idea of it being the A7000 isn’t that much of a stretch.

We had heard rumors back in 2014 that the Sony NEX-7’s successor could be known as the Sony A7000. This is thanks to Sony’s new naming scheme of their mirrorless cameras which sort of makes sense. While the specs of the camera have yet to be confirmed, we have heard some rumors of what we could expect.

This includes 4K video capture, shutter speeds as fast as 1/8000, weather sealing, a 24MP sensor, a weather-sealed body, and if the latest rumor is true, on-sensor stabilization as well. No word on when the camera will be launched, but with CP+ kicking off in the middle of next month, hopefully we will learn something then.
