sony-tv-tuner-moduleSony has just announced their spanking new Sony Digital TV Tuner Module, which carries the model number SMT-EW100 if you happen to keep track of such information. This particular peripheral will target mobile devices including the likes of (but not limited to) smartphones, tablets, automotive infotainment systems, navigation systems and PCs. In fact, Sony claims that it will boast of the world’s smallest size, not to mention deliver superior reception in addition to having an extremely low level of power consumption, now how about that? This would mean it is the ideal candidate when it comes to inclusion within mobile devices.

This happens to be the very first module that hails from Sony which is specialized for mobile usage, and it is capable of supporting a slew of different kinds of digital terrestrial TV broadcast systems, where among them include DVB-T and DVB-T2 for ASEAN, Middle East, Europe, Africa, DVB-T2 Lite, ISDB-T for South America and ISDB-Tmm for Japan. Sony India will be the one offering this particular tuner module, which is accompanied by the antenna, software and technical support. Oh yeah, not forgetting the tuner enabling mobile device manufacturers to be able to incorporate a DTV feature into their products in a jiffy.
