HDR-PJ670_1_B_main2-1200Our smartphones, DSLRs, and compact cameras are perfectly capable of capturing and recording video in high quality, however we understand that there are some users who might prefer a more dedicated device for their video recording needs, such as a camcorder, and if you’re in the market for such a product, Sony has recently announced the PJ670 and PJ440 handycams.

Both handycams share some similar features, such as the ability to capture video in Full HD resolution at a bitrate of 50Mbps. It will also utilize the XAVC S format, but as far as image stabilization features are concerned it does differ a bit. The PJ670 will feature Balanced Optical SteadyShot image stabilization technology, while the PJ440 will offer Optical SteadyShot with Intelligent Active technology instead.

Both devices will also come with built-in projectors, but the PJ670 will come with a 25lm projector while the PJ440 will come with a 13lm projector, so we guess it’s really up to you as to which would come in handy for your needs. Both cameras will also come with Multi Camera Control support that uses WiFi to control as many as five devices at a time, and will also sport USTREAM live streaming functionality.

The Sony PJ670 will be priced at $700 and should be available for purchase in January. As for the PJ440, it is priced slightly cheaper at $400 and will also be available for purchase in January as well.
