tesla-dragIt looks as though there is a new winner, a new champion where the world record for a quarter mile drag racing is concerned. The result might be rather surprising – as it is not some sort of naturally aspirated car, and neither is it a supercar that hails from Europe, but rather, this is a Tesla Model S P85D. Over at the StreetCarsDrags races at the Palm Beach International Raceway, a Tesla Model S P85D tore up the tracks, setting a brand new 1/4 mile world record along the way.

“During the run the Tesla Model S P85D set a new world record (verified by NEDRA) for being the quickest and fastest production electric car in the world running 11.6 @ 114.6 MPH down the 1/4 mile with a very impressive 1.65 60′ time. 0-60 MPH came in last just 3.1 seconds during the run as per the VBOX,” or so we have been told by MyTeslaBlog.

The Tesla Model S is a versatile ride, where we have also heard of owners of the car actually hacking it to have it run Ubuntu, now how about that? This is one ride that will cost more in Europe than over here Stateside, so if you happen to live across the pond, perhaps you might want to purchase a different ride instead.
