nokia-lumia-928-7Just last week we reported that both the Lumia 822 and Lumia 928 had mysteriously vanished from Verizon’s website. Now if the phone were sold out, they’d still be listed albeit with a side-note that they are sold out and that they would be restocked in due time. A disappearance from a website seems to suggest discontinuation entirely.

Well the good news for Windows Phone fans is that it looks like Verizon has not dropped the Lumia 822 or Lumia 928, and yes it seems that they are indeed temporarily sold out. According to a statement that Verizon released to the folks at WinBeta, they said “VerizonWireless.com has temporarily sold out of Lumia smartphones. We’re looking forward to bringing more Lumias to market with Verizon.”

Now the wording is a bit suspect. Note that Verizon did not mention anything about the Lumia 822 or the Lumia 928. Instead they talked about “more Lumias” which could indicate that new and different models will be arriving on the carrier’s network in the future. So perhaps both the Lumia 822 and Lumia 928 have been discontinued by Verizon, but their support for the Windows Phone and Lumia brand is still ongoing.

In the meantime Verizon is still selling other Windows Phone products, like the HTC One M8 for Windows and the Samsung ATIV SE.
