windows-phone-logoIt has been known for quite some time now that those who are going to rock to the Windows 10 operating system will be able to enjoy native access to the lossless audio format known as FLAC. Well, having said that, what about smartphones which run on the Windows Phone platform? Good news for audiophiles as well as those who would want close to perfect playback of their music – Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore has tweeted the confirmation that support for FLAC files will also eventually make their way to the Windows Phone platform.

According to Belfiore, “Yes, FLAC support will be on phones/small tablets… won’t be in the first insider build, though, will be a few months later..” Right, a few months later. That should not be too long to wait, actually, taking into consideration how Windows Phone users have had to wait far longer than that in the past in order to enjoy apps that had been on other platforms for quite some time already.

At least Windows Phone users will no longer need to fall back on outside codecs or programs in the mould of VLC in order to play back such high quality audio files on their handsets down the road.
