xbox avatarHeads up gamers, do you think that your Xbox avatars are starting to look a little dated? Considering the graphical power offered by the Xbox One, shouldn’t the graphics quality of the Xbox avatars at least match what the console can produce? Well the good news is that according to a recent sighting by Dualshockers, it looks like Microsoft is doing something about it.

They have recently spotted job listings for two software engineers who will reportedly be working on avatar development for the Xbox platform. The job listing reads, “At Xbox we’re looking for a senior graphics engineer that will work with us to grow the avatar platform across all of our platforms, leveraging the power of Xbox One, the far reach of Windows, and the intimacy of touch on mobile devices.”

The job listing also states what is expected of the engineers, which is to “ensure Avatars are not only gorgeous, but highly performant [sic] across a wide scale of devices” and “work with designers, animators, artists, and other content creators on the implementation of new features.” There is also talk about taking the Xbox avatars on their “biggest adventure yet”, although we can’t be sure what that means yet.

Now there is no telling when these new and updated avatars will be making their debut, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled anyway. In the meantime are gamers excited that Microsoft is finally working on avatar development?
