zano-1[CES 2015] We did talk about the Zano drone before, right before Christmas, and this is one micro drone that is meant to be a flying prototype with the ability to capture selfies. Being marketed for a summer release this year, Torquing Group happens to be the engineering group behind the Zano drone. It is small enough for us to place in our palm as you can see in the photo above, but over at CES Unveiled this evening, the Zano drone did not take to the skies – or at least in the airspace at the room while we were there. This is in stark contrast to the other drones of yesteryears which were flying around freely, amidst all the wheeling and dealing that is being done on the floor.

Still, to have something that is just 2.5” x 2.5” in size is really small, and to see it fly around is well worth the price of admission if it is going to be affordable enough. As a refresher, the Zano drone would tip the scales at 55 grams, and it will come with a 5MP shooter on board, which will be accompanied by a digital microphone. The camera itself will have optical image stabilizing technology to make sure that your videos would come out a whole lot better than you thought.
