Apple Employees Charged With Stealing $700,000 Worth Of Gift Cards

giftcardsStealing from work happens all over the world, whether it be taking a pen home or maybe even taking home reels of printer paper. At the end of the day, it happens, but it’s not often you hear about employees stealing as much as $700,000 from their place work, which is what happened recently to a handful of Apple Store employees.

Four employees and a dental office receptionist have recently been indicted by the district attorney for an Apple-related scam that ultimately saw them defraud the Barclays Bank of $700,000. The case itself is rather complex, but basically it involved the dental receptionist stealing patient information which is then used to secure online credit from the bank.

That credit was then used to purchase Apple gift cards, which turn was then used to buy Apple products. Like we said it is complex, but if anything it sounds a bit familiar to the recent case with Ubisoft and digital copies of Far Cry 4, where the keys were resold by third-party resellers who allegedly obtained them with stolen credit cards.

One of the ring leaders in the scam, a 30-year by the name of Devin Bazile, could face up to 54 years in jail if found guilty. Yikes!
