According to a report from Korea, Apple’s latest recruitment drive is focused on stealing Samsung’s chip and battery experts, the company is said to be offering substantial increases in salary as well as competitive benefits to entice those employees to jump ship and join Apple. Specifically the recruitment drive is said to be focused on bringing in as many experts in chip design and battery technology as possible.

The Korea Times cites an unnamed Samsung official in its report who claims that Apple is even offering these employees “greater independence” in their new roles apart from the better salary and more benefits.

Recent rumors have suggested that Apple is working on an all electric car, and for that project it does need experts in battery technology, the company has already hired battery experts from A123 Systems which has filed a lawsuit against Apple for unfairly poaching its employees.

As far as chip experts go that could be yet another move on Apple’s part on end its reliance on Samsung. The Korean giant is once again expect to supply the bulk of chips for the new iPhone and iPad models that Apple releases this year.

Since these are industry rumors we can’t expect either company to come out with a response, though this certainly isn’t the first time that Apple has been reported to be stealing away its competitors’ employees with more money and benefits.
