If you are an AT&T subscriber with a Galaxy S5 Active you might want to check your smartphone for a software update. The carrier has rolled out a new update for Galaxy S5 Active. Before you get all excited let me clarify that this isn’t the much awaited Android 5.0 Lollipop update. The carrier has actually released Android 4.4.4 for this device. Those who had their fingers crossed for Lollipop will unfortunately have to wait for a bit longer.

AT&T has actually not even released the Lollipop update for its Galaxy S5 variant, forget about the relatively less popular Galaxy S5 Active. Just last week AT&T also released the Android 4.4.4 for Galaxy S5.

So far only two major carriers in the U.S. have released this update for Galaxy S5, Verizon and Sprint, with the former being the first one out the gate with Lollipop for Galaxy S5.

Android 4.4.4 KitKat is an incremental update so don’t expect much from it. The update brings stability and performance improvements as well as some crucial bug fixes.

It goes without saying that the next update released for this device will be Lollipop but one can’t say for sure right now precisely when it will arrive.

AT&T hasn’t shared its Lollipop roadmap for Samsung’s devices yet.
