argiYou might recall that in 2014, Blizzard released the Argi pet in World of Warcraft. The pet was meant to help raise funds for the Red Cross in their Ebola relief efforts. 100% of every purchase would be going towards the relief efforts meaning that Blizzard will not be taking a cut at all for their efforts.

So how much have they managed to raise so far? According to Blizzard, they have proudly announced that they have managed to raise a whopping $1.9 million for the Red Cross! Doing some basic math, this equates to about 190,000 Argis having been adopted ever since Blizzard has put the pet up for sale.

Granted 190,000 adoptions is a fraction of Blizzard’s World of Warcraft subscriber base which is at the moment sitting at around 10 million, we guess we still have to give Blizzard and the World of Warcraft community props for raising $1.9 million to begin with. This isn’t Blizzard’s first charitable rodeo as the company has previously released charity pets to aid with the Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief efforts.

The company had also previously helped out with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Argi pet is still available for gamers who wish to get their hands on it and can be found in the Battle.net Shop where it is priced at $10.
