Dota-2There are several different MOBAs available to gamers at the moment, and Riot Games’ League of Legends is clearly leading the way, but it seems that Valve’s DotA 2 isn’t doing too badly either. According to recent reports, DotA 2 managed to break the 1 million mark for concurrent users over this particular weekend.

For those unfamiliar, it basically means that there were as many as 1 million players playing DotA 2 at the same time, which if you were to break it down into individual games, well that’s a lot of games going on at the moment! While this indeed a pretty impressive number, it should be noted that it still falls very far behind League of Legends.

Last we heard, League of Legends has anywhere between 5-7.5 million concurrent players, although we should note that those numbers are pretty old. That being said as far as Valve’s games are concerned, DotA 2 is faring pretty well and has managed to beat out Counter-Strike: Global Offensive which is sitting at around the 420,000 mark.

Last year Valve announced that they had as many as 7.86 million total DotA 2 players which at that time managed to beat out World of Warcraft, although now that World of Warcraft’s active subscribers have crossed the 10 million mark, we wonder how they fare against each other today.
