Microsoft often runs promotions to bring new users to its OneDrive cloud storage service. The company competes with the likes of Box and Dropbox in this market and one of the easiest ways to entice users to join is by offering free storage. Microsoft today initiated a promotion under which it is offering 100GB free OneDrive storage to any and all Dropbox users, no questions asked.

Just last week Microsoft started a similar promotion for people who would like to sign up for Bing Rewards. Those who do sign up receive 100GB free OneDrive storage for two full years.

This latest promotion doesn’t even require users to sign up. Existing Dropbox users only have to sign in with their account so obtain 100GB OneDrive storage for free. There is only one caveat, Microsoft is offering this free cloud storage for just one year.

Once the year is over users will either have to revert back to the free plan to pay to continue using 100GB. Nevertheless it is a good incentive for people who are thinking of switching over from Dropbox.

This gives them a full year to try out Microsoft’s service and all the features that it offers. If they are not satisfied they can always go elsewhere.
