facebook-new-tools

Its no secret that Facebook wants to be a place where people buy and sell stuff. Many small businesses already use Facebook Pages to sell their stuff online but recently the company has been working on tools and features that allow users to buy and sell items in groups. Facebook was testing out these tools last year and today it has launched them for everyone.

Today’s update puts a “Sell” button directly inside certain “For Sale” groups on Facebook. This new button is located right next to the “Post” button and can be used to share items directly to the group.

Users can then provide a description of the items that’s up for sale, its price as well as details about where the delivery would be or where buyers will have to come to pick up the item.

Those who sell products in these groups will be able to see a history of their past sales. They will also be able to mark their items as available and sold.

Facebook is selecting these “For Sale” groups based on title and description. These groups were originally started by users who simply wanted a place to buy and sell stuff.

Sellers can already provide all of this information in the body of the post but these new tools add a bit of professional flair to the affair.

One thing that Facebook isn’t facilitating users with just yet is payments. Buyers and sellers have to figure it out among themselves how money will change hands.
