gizmosphereGizmoSphere intends to make a statement at the upcoming Embedded World event, where this will be the platform that GizmoSphere showcases their spanking new Gizmo 2 platform. GizmoSphere might not ring a bell for many, so here is a quick history lesson before we continue. GizmoSphere happens to be a nonprofit open-source development board community, and they have just announced that the Gizmo 2 platform will be shipping to distributors and is available for customer delivery.

<1--more-->Gizmo 2, as its name suggests, happens to be a second-generation, 64-bit x86-based single board computer (SBC) that will offer embedded programmers as well as advanced DIYers unparalleled compute and graphics performance, all of it residing on a single platform that will cater to a wide range of Linux- and Windows-based development projects.

This particular platform will include the likes of Coreboot-based SageBIOS from Sage Electronic Engineering, Timesys-powered embedded Linux environment showcasing accelerated video, native C/C++ and Python application development, access to Timesys LinuxLink for building an optimized, deeply embedded Linux platform, support for the Minoca operating system, and access to the GizmoSphere community site for the latest projects, tips-n-tricks, support forums and updates at no extra charge.
