lg-g3-phone-025Following the success of the LG G3, LG is presumably rolling out the LG G4 later this year, Q2 if the rumors are to be believed. However we’re sure some of you guys are wondering, just how long can companies such as Apple, Samsung, or LG keep churning out handsets before they start to lose their appeal?

Well if LG has their way, a very long time. According to a recent trademark filing, it seems that LG has filed the trademarks for a bunch of devices. This includes the LG G3, LG G4, LG G5, LG G6, LG G7, LG G8, and the LG G9. All of them have been granted to LG so it seems that LG does have a very long-term plan in the works.

Assuming that LG does stick to their plan, it seems that it would probably be 2020 when the LG G9 is released! We have to admit that by then we are curious as to whether smartphones will still be just as popular, or if we might be using a different means of communications by then. Of course it is possible that LG has no plans to release handsets up to the LG G9.

The company could simply be protecting its intellectual property, especially in the event that someone does come and release a device called the LG G9, but what do you guys think? Will we be seeing LG churn out handsets well into 2020?
