A couple of weeks ago, there were reports that an Apple van with a weird gizmo on its roof was making its way around the Bay Area in San Francisco, and ever since that story broke, there have been multiple reports about what the vehicle could be used for. The folks at MacRumors have recently gotten their hands on a video of the vehicle thanks to one of their readers.

The video was recorded as the van drove past the Juana Briones Park on Clemo Avenue, a residential street which is located approximately 10 miles from Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino. The van appears to be a fifth-generation Dodge Caravan and are said to have been leased to Apple, although exactly what for remains to be seen.

However the fact that it is driving around the streets has lent itself to the speculation that Apple could be preparing a Street View-like feature that could be announced as an Apple Maps update in iOS 9, although like we said earlier, ever since the story broke there have been rumors and speculation that the car could be part of Apple’s plans to build their own electric cars.

In fact just earlier there was a new report that claimed that not only will Apple be building electric cars, but they could be thinking of taking companies like Google on by making these electric cars self-driving as well.
