nintendo-logoLast year Nintendo revealed that they had plans to enter the health sector, but so far we have yet to hear or see any developments from the company. Does this mean that Nintendo’s health initiative has been canned or maybe put on the back burner for now? For those curious, you can rest assured as Nintendo’s plans are still on track.

This is according to Nintendo’s President Satoru Iwata during an interview with Asahi News. According to Iwata, he reiterated Nintendo’s commitment to their quality of life platform and that it is an important part of Nintendo’s future, although Iwata did not mention when we might be able to see anything from the platform.

Iwata also stressed that this initiative from Nintendo will be separate from their video game development, but at the same time was open to the idea of using their knowledge and experience in the entertainment industry to ensure the success of their upcoming product, which last we heard was a sleep-sensing device.

According to Iwata, “Leveraging our video game know-how, we’ll make it so even those who have trouble following through can stick with this program and have fun.” It remains unclear as to what this device might look like, although previously we had heard rumors about Nintendo possibly using Sharp’s free form display in an upcoming product.
