panasonic-toughbook-54When it comes to rugged notebooks, you know for sure that there will be very little competition around, and it is safe to say that the folks over at Panasonic happen to have a monopoly on things. In fact, the Japanese company has just refreshed the Toughbook range, which would bring down the curtain on the Toughbook 53 with the introduction of its successor, that is, the Toughbook 54.

The Panasonic Toughbook 54 is said to be lighter than its predecessor, but this does not mean that it would compromise on its robustness. Continuing in the tradition of maintaining its strength and durability, the Toughbook 54 happens to be a 14” laptop that tips the scales at 1.9kg, and will also feature double the amount of memory capacity at 16GB, not to mention sporting a spare bay to improve storage capacity.

Battery life has also seen an extension by up to 11 hours with a solitary battery, and if you decide to settle on a couple of batteries, then you can end up with 18 hours of juice. Expect the Panasonic Toughbook 54 to begin shipping later this month with a starting price of $1,499, and expect the business crowd segment to be targeted. The Toughbook 54 will arrive mated to a 1TB hard drive in one slot, while there will be a 256GB solid-state drive in the second slot.
