Screen Shot 2015-02-04 at 01.27.14The tiles on Windows Phone 8 have largely been either square or rectangular, although when it is rectangular, they tend to be horizontal. However if you were hoping for more flexibility by having vertical tiles that are double-stacked, perhaps Windows 10 could be the operating system that grant your wishes.

Vesku Paananen, a Microsoft employee, recently tweeted an image which you can see above. The image was later removed ahead of an upcoming business summit, but what caught the eye of many was the phone in the picture to the bottom right. For the most part the phone looks like it is running Windows Phone 8.

However there is a double-stacked vertical tile include in the image which has us wondering could this be a glimpse of Windows 10 for phones? Perhaps the design to make it look like Windows Phone 8 was meant to throw us off, or maybe this could simply be an early build, but either way the larger tiles could help open up more possibilities and uses in the future.

Microsoft has yet to release the Windows 10 preview for phones. We had heard the rumors that it could be released today, but more recent rumors have suggested otherwise. In any case what do you guys think? Are larger, vertical tiles something you would like to see in Windows 10?
