htc boomsound leakNo one really knows for sure what the upcoming HTC One M9 looks like, although recent renderings that are allegedly based on the leaked schematics have kind of clued us in. From what we can tell, the handset looks beautiful which is to be expected from HTC, and as far as the BoomSound speakers are concerned, HTC has apparently gone with a different design.

This has us wondering then, which handset could the image above be depicting? From the renderings of the HTC One M9, it seems that HTC has gone for a cutout look instead of the speaker grills, but the image above shows BoomSound speakers designed with diagonal cutouts instead.

Now it is entirely possible that the image we are looking at is a fake and that it is just another fan rendering. However the image did come from @upleaks who has had a pretty decent track record when it comes to leaks and rumors, so it is possible that it could be an actual device. Now the HTC One M9 is hardly the only handset HTC has planned for this year, so it is also possible that the image could be that of another phone.

After all HTC has been incorporating the BoomSound design in some of their other handsets, like the HTC Desire 612 and the recently announced HTC Desire 626, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that HTC’s other phones could use this design instead. Until then take it with a grain of salt but hopefully we will learn more at HTC’s MWC event.
