With the number of games available on Android, creating an Android console does seem to make some sense. In fact back in 2012 the OUYA Android game console was launched on Kickstarter where the company managed to raise a lot of money and became one of the most backed Kickstarter projects of all time.

Unfortunately the console failed to deliver and did not live up to the hype, but hopefully the creators behind the ZRRO will be able to learn from OUYA’s mistakes. The ZRRO BOX is basically another Android gaming console, but what makes the device unique is that it comes with a controlled called the ZRRO Pad that has a feature the company is calling zTouch.

This is a combination of both mutual and self capacitance technology, with the device being able to sense where your fingers are hovering over the display and whether or not you are pressing down on it, which we think would make for some pretty interesting gameplay options. As for the console itself, the ZRRO BOX will pack a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage that can be expanded via microSD, two USB 2.0 ports, and a HDMI port.

The ZRRO is currently on Kickstarter and is seeking funding to the tune of $200,000. The company has managed to raise a little over $40,000 at this time of writing, and with 41 days to go it is possible that they could hit their goals.
