Nowadays there seems to be a focus on developing green properties, which basically are properties that will take advantage of nature to help reduce the amount of energy consumed. This could come in the form of better placement of windows to allow the right amount of sun and wind into the home, the use of recycled materials, lots of greeneries, and etc.
While we suppose this might not necessarily be a green development per se, copper huts are being planned for the Lake of Bays in Ontario, Canada. These copper huts are designed and have been proposed by architectural studio MU and basically have the ability to turn green over the course of time, thus ultimately blending into their surroundings.
This is thanks to the use of copper strips in the construction of these huts, which when exposed to the environment and oxygen, will eventually turn green thus blending into the environment around it. Granted it probably isn’t the same shade of green, but it’s a pretty cool idea nonetheless.
The design is also inspired by the Amerindian teepees and will feature a wooden triangular structure, complete with steel anchors, wooden composite materials, and the use of glass and insulated panels with the facade sporting the abovementioned copper strips. The huts are also expected to be prefabricated entirely off-site so as damage as little of the natural landscape as possible.
