farcry4Last week there were reports that Ubisoft had begun to delete digital copies of Far Cry 4 from Uplay accounts that bought the game from third-party retailers such as G2Play and G2A. According to Ubisoft, those keys were bought using stolen credit cards which were then resold to gamers, thus leading to the deletion.

Unsurprisingly many felt that this was unfair as they did not know that the keys they bought were fake, and it looks like Ubisoft has since decided to adopt a softer stance on the matter and will now be reactivating the game for some of their gamers. In a statement released by Ubisoft, “After further investigation into the matter of keys that were fraudulently purchased on EA’s Origin store, we are reinstating keys for consumers who already had successfully activated and started playing the games.”

However Ubisoft adds that this is a one-time thing and that gamers who have purchased the remaining fraudulent keys will not be able to install/play the game as those keys have since been deactivated. “We are working with EA to prevent situations like this from happening again, and we will continue to deactivate keys that are found to be fraudulently obtained and resold.”

Retailer G2A had previously offered to look into possibly offering their customers compensation if they have been affected by this. So, any of our readers have their copy of Far Cry 4 reactivated yet?
